Trio de Bois was formed c. 2009 with Lori, Nicole and Elizabeth who shared a desire to perform rep from the great tradition of French Reed Trio music.  The trio has traveled and grown in the following years.  The Trio’s rep now includes music from all around the world and from all time periods.  Performances across the country and a dedication to education outreach has inspired new collaborations including singer Rachel Youngberg-Payne and most recently Allison Vest, who joined on piano in 2018.   The Trio has held recitals in various chamber music series and venues in Utah, Idaho, Washington, and New York City (as part of the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival).  You can follow Trio de Bois on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube as they gather for residencies throughout the year.   ​


Nicole Fullmer
​Oboe

As a freelance oboist, Nicole Marriott Fullmer has had the privilege of participating in a wide variety of ensembles and projects. Described as having "a beautiful, free-flowing sound" by Holly Gornik (retired Utah Symphony), she has performed with the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, recorded on the soundtrack for TNT's season one of "The Librarians," and participated in the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival in New York City with her trio, Trio de Bois (a French-style woodwind trio). She performs with Chrome Street quartet and is the section leader of the Utah Wind Symphony. She is part of starting a new ensemble called Elacor, and was the oboist of the Salt Lake Pops Studio Orchestra and SaltAir Winds woodwind quintet while they were active. With these groups, Nicole has performed in New York City, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Park City and other various locations around Utah. She also performed solo and as part of a trio in recital in Alpine, Texas.
Nicole has done a variety of recording, which includes soloing with a choir, recording for soundtracks, and recording for a rock album. As a member of the Salt Lake Pops, she had the chance to record an original oboe solo, Electric Winter, composed by Nathaniel Drew. With the Utah Wind Symphony, Nicole performed at the Midwest Music Conference in Chicago in December of 2015

Nicole has a variety of chamber music collaborations planned for the near future, and she is currently auditioning for professional symphonies. She also has a private oboe studio that incorporates group lessons and recitals, during which she performs as well as accompanies her students on piano.  Nicole is a member of Legacy Music Alliance, and local band teachers call her to teach clinics, masterclasses, and run sectionals to help improve their oboe sections. She is always arranging music for Chrome Street, and is currently working on her own home-recording projects.

Lori Shepherd
​Clarinet

Residing in Seattle since 2012, Lori Shepherd is a freelance musician and private music instructor specializing in woodwinds. Versatile and creative, Lori Shepherd embodies the definition of musician. She performs regularly on clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, oboe, and flute, and has performed in venues around the the world, including Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall, Abravenel Hall, the main stage at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, Advent Lutheran Church in Manhattan, and throughout the United States.   
 
In addition to performing, Lori loves being a teacher and has taught lessons for over 20 years. She taught jr high band, orchestra and guitar as a public school teacher before returning to study for her Masters degree. She teaches students of all ages, and excels in presenting challenging material in an approachable and fun manner. She is currently on faculty with MusicWorks Northwest in Bellevue teaching clarinet, sax, and oboe, as well as maintaining a private studio in Redmond/Woodinville.

She holds a Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from the University of Utah, where she studied clarinet and saxophone. She has had the opportunity to study with Sean Osborn, Lee Livengood, Tad Calcara, Christie Lundquist (former principal clarinetist of the Utah Symphony), Alan Kay, Mariam Adams, David Feller, and Kathy Pope on clarinet; Janet Putnam on oboe; David Hall, David Feller and Mark Ely on saxophone.

Elizabeth Crawford
​Bassoon

Elizabeth Ball Crawford is the Professor of Bassoon at Brigham Young University – Idaho. Originally a native of western New York, she began her formal education on piano and bassoon in the Eastman School of Music preparatory division. She went on to finish high school at Interlochen Arts Academy, a student of Barrick Stees. Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree in performance from Manhattan School of Music, a student of Whitney Crockett.  She received her graduate degree from the University of Utah, a student of Lori Wike.
 
Elizabeth served as a bassoonist and vocalist in the United States Army Band program performing for audiences all over the U.S. and South Korea. Later, as a Salt Lake City based musician, Elizabeth co-founded and served as a board member of the Utah Wind Symphony, a select ensemble of professional wind and percussion players.
 
Elizabeth spent four years as principal bassoonist of the Great Falls Symphony, Chinook Winds Quintet and the Billings Symphony. As a member of the Chinook Winds Quintet, Elizabeth wrote and performed in hundreds of educational programs, formal chamber music concerts, masterclasses, band clinics, and outreach events.

Allison Vest

​Allison Vest is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho having completed a Bachelor of Science in Music degree in 2009. During her time as a student, Allison was frequently asked to accompany university choirs and voice students. After graduating, Allison has continued providing her accompaniment services to BYU-Idaho as an employee of the College of Visual and Performing Arts. She works with university choirs, symphonies, bands, students, and other professors as a rehearsal and performance pianist for the Theater and Music departments. Her many experiences with the university have led to an extensive repertoire list that includes every genre from every era of music. She is highly-regarded by university faculty as well as performing arts students.
 
Allison’s main passion is opera. She was a featured harpsichordist for the 2011 BYU-Idaho theatre production of The Marriage of Figaro and has accompanied opera selections from Don Giovanni, Gianni Schicci, Old Maid and a Thief, Madame Butterfly, Hansel and Gretel, The Magic Flute, Tartuffe, Carmen, and numerous other works.
 
Her position with the university has brought many exciting opportunities to accompany and hold master classes with internationally renowned performing artists such as Alyson Cambridge, Alfie Boe, and Standford Olsen. She has also performed alongside popular guest artists Santino Fontana, George Dyer, David Archuleta, Nathan Pacheco, Dallyn Bayles, and Lexi Walker. She is looking forward to accompanying Broadway sensation Brian Stokes Mitchell for BYU-Idaho’s annual Christmas Concert this year.
 
Outside of the university, Allison has frequently accompanied and performed with the Idaho Falls Symphony and has earned the praise and respect of Conductor, Dr. Thomas Heuser. She has also collaborated in performances for Opera Idaho, the Playmill Theater, and the Idaho Falls Opera Theater among many other solo and ensemble groups including her latest venture with Trio de Bois.
 
Allison currently resides in Rexburg, Idaho with her husband and three children.
